The Harley Davidson Softail is one of Harley's most popular motorcycle types. It is a solidly built bike with a great reputation for high performance. However, without proper maintenance on your part, the vehicle will not be able to work at its full potential, and you may even run into problems in regards to the long term security of the bike systems. Changing the oil periodically is a great way to keep the engine from overheating and to prevent major and irreparable damage to your bike. You should plan to change the oil every 3000 miles or so. Before you take your Softail in to a service station to have it worked on that way, it's a good idea to think about changing the oil yourself and at home. This process should take no more than about an hour, and you'll save both time and money over the process of taking it in to a service place.

Softail Harley-Davidson motorcycles are made to look like the original hardtail motorcycles, i.e., the ones that had no springs or shocks in the back. But the difference is the ride and handling. With the shock absorbers tucked away behind the transmission, the look remains but the ride and handling are better. All of these motorcycles have the big Harley 1540cc specially balanced Twin-Cam engine.

Six Models From Which to Choose

If Softail Harley-Davidson motorcycles were a cake, you'd get six layers. There is the Heritage Softail Classic, the Fat Boy, Softail Deluxe, Cross Bones, Rocker C, and Fat Boy Lo. This is literally an array of vehicles to suit every taste in this version of Harley machines.

When you are out on your Harley, having a good jacket isn't always about keeping warm. It can also be about safety in the event of a crash. That is the main purpose in the summer months. Still, looking good in genuine a Harley Davidson jacket is a good thing, too. Whether you are looking for the jacket for the summer months only, or something to wear all year round, Harley should have a jacket that will do the job with style.

Rain Jackets

Harley Davidson manufactures a whole line of rain gear, and there are jackets in the line. While all the rain suits include a jacket, those looking exclusively for jackets will find two offerings. With a manufacturer's suggested retail price of between $215 and $225, the Men's Rain Jacket with Gore-Tex Paclite Material is waterproof, windproof and breathable. It comes in one color only, a two tone dark and light grey combination. It includes reflective Harley Davidson graphics on the back. With an MSRP of $295 to $315, the FXRG Rain Jacket with Gore-Tex Paclite Material features most of the same things as the other rain jacket, but is black with reflective striping and has more bells and whistles.

It's adorned with rhinestone-embellished leather appliques on the right sleeve, left chest and back. Available in XS-3W, Petite and Tall sizes.

Keeping your Harley Davidson exhaust system well cleaned and polished is an important part of the overall maintenance process of your vehicle. The exhaust system is not one of the most often cleaned and maintained portions of your motorcycle, but it's nonetheless one of the crucial parts of the vehicle that can help to make a difference between a Harley Davidson that looks professionally cleaned and maintained and one that does not. Using a good chrome polish to apply several coats periodically with a brush or sponge can help you to keep your vehicle looking its best at all times; read on for a brief step by step guide on to polishing your Harley Davidson's exhaust.
