Inner primary bearing failed @ 11,000 mis.
'06 35th anniv. SG, both the bearing and the washer are toast! Got it back from the dealer yesterday. Now I have a loud whine in the primary case, sounds like a distant police siren! Goes up and down with RPMs. Did the service dept. screw up or do you think this will go away? oregonrider.

RE: Inner primary bearing failed @ 11,000 mis.
Just guessing but sounds like something is not lined up or the primary chain has got itself much too tight somehow.
I've heard a few cases of this bearing failure now. WTF!! Why was the 15,000 replacement withdrawn?
I would get it back to the dealer for an explanation of how they let you have it back in that condition.
Anyone else had this bearing fail??

This all started last sat. when I changed all the oils for my 10000 service. I had let the dealer do the previous ones. Found a lot of metal on the trans. magnet, it looked like an icecream cone! [] Sun. I took a long ride and that's when I noticed a new noise in the primary, kind of a rushing sound that went away as soon as I put it in gear. Took it to the dealer weds. They listened to it , said it sounded like either the inner primary or trans bearing. I told them about all the the chips on the trans magnet. Didn't notice the new sound when I picked the bike up at closing time on fri. I did hear it at the first stoplight I stopped at. They were closed by then for the holiday weekend so I rode home which is 45 miles from anywhere. oregonrider.

RE: Inner primary bearing failed @ 11,000 mis.
Just saw my brother-in-law on a different bike to his brand new Honda CBF 1000.
Turns out that after 500 miles he needs a new transmission because it was sticking in gear and other stuff. Seems that they have been having problems with this model, even though it is similar to the Fireblade.
Kinda makes me feel better to know that Honda have issues too!
