518 v 508s
Dear all,
I want to change the bars on mt 1999 RK Classic. The main reason for making the change is that I find the wrist angle too acute on the standard bars. I have no problems with reach (my shirt seam is 33" so more or less standard).
At 5' 6" the Wild 1 site suggests I go for the 508s but the 518s seem to give me the wider angle that I am looking for. As I am ordering from the UK I need to get the choice right! Having read all the threads, I'd still like to get advice, particulalry from shorter riders who have tried the 518s.
Thanks in advance
Pete

RE: 518 v 508s
I'm 6'0" tall with 34" arms. The 518's are a perfect fit for me. The 508's will be a little narrower with a couple more inches of pullback. If you don't need the extra pullback, the 518's should be fine. Might want to try to find someone over there that has them and try them out before you buy.

Rick

RE: 518 v 508s
I'm 5' 8" with 33" sleeve length and the 508's are a perfect fit for me! This is my second bar change, with the most recent being the reduced reach HD bars, which were a little too short on the pullback I needed. Everybodys different and you can't really make a determination by height and sleeve length alone. If you are heavy set, you will be positioned closer to the bars than somebody of the same height with a skinny ****. At 150 LB, the Corbin close solo with the 508's are perfect. Somebody of my height and inseam, but 40 LB's heavier might find the regular Corbin with 518's better suited. It's a crapshoot for sure. I know one fella that's on his 5th set of bars and still hasn't found the perfect combo. Good luck!

I think ApeKing said it best...go up not back - LOL... Look at some 10.5" Apes for 12" apes with those, the bar angle is great and you control the pull back.
The wrist angle on the 508's & 518's are not all that great..Feel awkward, Your wrist will be twisted even more then stock.
