Default Open face Arlen Ness Big Sucker?

Anyone running a Arlen Ness big Sucker WITHOUT the stock air cleaner cover on it? I seen a Arlen Ness on a bike and the guy had the ac bolted on, and used a Harley air cleaner insert only to dress up the center of the air filter. Other than the chrome insert to dress up the mounting bolts, its running totally open. Would this hurt anything? What about any gains in regards to fresh air flow? looked kinda different...what do you think?

I'm running the same set up on my 95" 2000 FLSTC. I like the looks. You do need to be careful when riding in too much rain, washing the bike, bugs, and dusty roads. So I clean it more often than most. No problems so far. I just did my 95" this winter. I had 32,000 on the odometer when I did it. No signs of excess wear or damage.

What kind of cover or insert did you use? Anything else or special needed or just buy an insert and bolt it on? Thanks man.

I still have the chrome insert that says, "Harley Davidson" on the top rocker and "Twin Cam 88 Cubic Inch" on the bottom. With the Chrome bolt that came with it.[IMG][/IMG]

I just put a ARLEN NESS AC Super sucker II on my 2004 Sportster 883 XL .
I bought the stage II and it came with 3 different cover choices ,( Smooth , scalloped. or vinned.
I went with the scalloped chrome billett cover .
Stage II is 20% larger, most of the fillter does show but it looks great .
I also added Vance and Hines short shot staggered exhaust at the same time .
Both realy look and sound ausome.
If I could figure out how to add a picture I would .
Send me your e-mail and I,ll send you a picture if you want ..

Here's the Arlen Ness Big Sucker I, I think it is one of the cleaner set ups out there because it has internal breather ports instead of external hoses, here's a Link for covers there's also a bunch on Harleys site as well as eBay.

I've been running mine like that for almost 10,000 miles with no problems at all. The only pain the the a$$ is when it rains, and the filter oil drips down onto the cam cover.

You can see it in the picture below, or click on the picture to see more pictures.
