Thundering Herd 5/13/06 PVHD Ride
Well the Thundering Herd rode again on Saturday 5/13/06. Jim (Primo), Jay (UJ034), Rob (CarmellRKC) and myself (Matt8643) all got together Saturday morning at Pomona Valley HD at 9:00am. We had originally planned a ride to Palm Springs, but at the last minute we realized that this day was Luau Day at PVHD, so we decided to stay local and attend the festivities at PVHD. It was a beautiful sunny day with temps in the 70's in the early moring and in the 80's in the afternoon. We all rode to Claremont together to visit a friend of Jim's where we were able to take a few photos of our bikes (see posts below). After visiting Jim's friend and his cute little daughter we were off to Starbuck's for some morning coffee. Jim and I were jonesing for java. Once we were relaxing outside with our cofee, Jay decided to head to Bakersfield to visit a buddy of his. So Jay parted ways with us and Rob, Jim and I went back to PVHD. Once at PVHD we all got to meet another board member, Bob (RJ164). Turns out Bob is a member of the local Pomona Hog Chapter and was helping with the event. Hopefully we will get a chance to ride with Bob in the future. There was plenty of food, some very pretty girls (they were crowning a new Miss PVHD this day and all the girls were mingling with the crowd!), and a raffle for a new 06 Sprtster. We stayed and watched some entertainment-including some Hawaiin music and Hula dancers and some Polynesian warrior dancing. It was actually pretty cool to watch, and since Jim is our informal Thundering Herd head honcho, he decreed that from now on at the beginning of all our rides we must do the Warrior dance!!
After the warrior dancing I had to head gome for some family obligations, but was planning on returning later on for the raffle. Rob was nice enough to give me his raffle ticket because he and Jim would not be present for the drwaing later on in the day. I eventually did come back for the drawing, and of course neither Rob nor I had the winning ticket.
It was a good day and afternoon for riding and hopefully we can get some more local riders on this board to join us next time. Below are a few photos from the day.
