Default Ordered the Scavenger

My wife just ordered the scavenger oil change system for my birthday. I have been reading the literature on them and I am really looking forward to learning how to use it . Bought my 20w50 Amsoil last week and am hoping it performs as well as everyone says. The weather here has been pretty nice for much of the last month so I have been riding quite a bit. Got a little cold last night coming home but still had fun.

If you would fill in the "From:" line in your profile, then we might have a clue where HERE is.

As long as it makes you feel good, that is all that counts. IMO, it is a waste of money.

So it gets all the oil out , you have all new , clean oil, but it is a waste of money? How so? Not arguing with you, I just fail to see how doing a complete oil change as opposed to a partial can be a waste of money. A new engine is what, three thousand?

I said it is a waste of money, IMO, because I do not believe that it is necessary. I do not believe that the amount of oil in the engine is doing any harm. I'm sure the propaganda on the system's website is enough to keep some people from sleeping at night. I, however, am not one of them....New engine? Give me a break. Your engine's life isn't gonna be drastically shortened by not using that system. I guess if it is, then my Twin Cam with 69k miles is on it's last leg. BTW, I am also not on the synthetic band wagon either. I use nothing but dino in any of my vehicles, including both bikes.

Of course, synthetic works for some guys and they aren't afraid of running it for a while. Unless I am mistaken, I believe Posserider up there uses Amsoil and doesn't change it but every 10k miles. Most of the guys around here would die of a panic attack if they thought they had to run 10k on their oil. It certainly works well for Posse, though. He has a pile of miles on his bike and has had no oil related issues.

Well, I guess the bottom line for me is that when you look at the cost of the bike as a whole, it doesn't make sense, to me, to get nit picky about the cost of maintenance incidentals. I agree with you on the 10K oil change, I will probably change every 4-5.
Possierider, it is called the scavenger, Rogue choppers makes it. It allows you to get all the oil out at change time. If I knew how to post a link I would, but you can put Rogue Choppers in Google and check it out, they have a video of it.

Thanks I will look it up. Yeah I run 10k on an oil change & have almost 60k on the bike now. I first started using it on my 1 ton hauling trailers all over the US. Did 60k oil changes on that (had a dual filter set up on it) & ran that truck up to 489,000 miles in 4 yrs. with no oil use. Guy that bought it in Ca. still running it 2 yrs later. To each his own on oil changes. Amsoil works for me (from exp.) & I trust it.
