Performance drop with baffles installed
Hello,I have following issue: My attempt to restrict the exhaust noise resulted as dramatic power drop..My bike is 2001FLSTS TC 88' upgraded to 95"Cam is stock and Carb (stock) is fitted with 190 Main jet and 48 Pilot jet Bike isfitted with Samson True Duals with fishtails ( no mufflers) - this being too noisy when throttle is suddenly closed..I decided to install approximately 10" long baffles in to the pipes..Now I got nice sound but no power.. Bike will hardly reach 70mph !! it was over 110mph without baffles..I tried to restrict main jet -(not knowing what the stock sizes is) I fitted it with 160 and engine will go trough full range of RPM but it is still weak compare to former setup..Any suggestionwill bemuch appreciated !!Thank youPeter

RE: Performance drop with baffles installed
I used HP Power Plus baffles inthe Samson fish tails on my Road King with excellent results. Later when I replaced the cracked fistails I welded a 3/8" washer on top of a 5/16" bolt and installed them about 8" back from the end. Power was the same, on a dyno, but louder than the baffles. I still have the baffles, if you are interested in themPM me.
I dont know what elevation your at in Slovakia but I would think the 48 pilot and 190 main are to rich. try a 45 180 combo, start with the mixture screw 1 7/8 turn out.
