Default Protecting Black Lowers

I have black lowers on my forks. I was talking to a guy I ride with and he said the only bad thing about them is that they get dinged by rocks and leave white marks where the paint chips. Does anyone have a suggestion on protecting them to prevent this?

...or you could buy some rockguard sticker material and cut it out to wrap around your fork lowers. Its clear, so if you did a good job putting it on, noone would ever know it was there. Any auto body supply store should carry it. Just a thought.

SoCalFXDF - Powder coat is extremely durable but is not indestructible. VenturaChop is right, powder coat CANNOT chip if the parts are prepped properly and the powder is fully cured, according to the manufacturer's cure cycle. Powder coat remains flexible after cure so it is resilient to impact and bending. Liquid paint is very hard, so it is brittle and will chip or crack under the same conditions.

However, you CAN gouge through a powder coated finish but the cut is smooth, like cutting through a milk jug, not jagged like gouging through a liquid painted finish. It will also crack if the metal is creased but will not crack if the metal is only bent.

Joe - if you would like some advise to correct the chipping problem I'd be happy to help. PM me.
