How To - 08 SE Air Cleaner install.
I got the SEAC for the Road Glide and decided to do the install today. I took a few pix along the way in case anyone wanted to see how the process went.
1 Original football off, this shows the throttle support bracket that must be removed.
2 I performed the bolt removal with a single ball allen wrench. I did not have to remove the tank, as per the instructions. Note towel to protect the chrome rocker cover.
3 The bracket is now off, ready for the new backing plate.
4 O Rings ready to go on the bolts to the head. I lightly oiled the rings so they wouldn't tear as I tightend them.
5 The gasket installed on the mounting plate. It seems to be cut a bit big for the opening. Also I ordered the plain backing plate (not chrome) and I painted it black to match the engine.
6 Here is the breather plate installed. A bit of loctite blue on the head mounting bolts keep them from rattling out.
7 Another view showing the breather bolts. They had loctite red on the threads.
8 The air cleaner mounted.
9 Another view.
10 I put some screws in the empty holes from the bracket removal.
11 I have installed a 7" cover. It fits the ac and opens up the side of the engine for viewing. ( I need one with better chrome)!
12 The whole picture. I have remapped the ecu with the SERT and I am now waiting for the snow to go and the temps to warm up!
I hope this helps anyone thinking about the SEAC install on an 08.

RE: How To - 08 SE Air Cleaner install.
Thanks for the write-up and pics. I have the same intake installed on my '08 103" and it performs well. It seems a shame the MoCo spent so little time thinking about the aesthetics - it would have taken just a minute more thought and they could have included chrome bolts and found some way to hide the hideous wiring for the throttle-by-wire. Interestingly, my backing plate came from MoCo in flat black; I wonder if they will produce a chrome one like previous years...
