Detachable fairing on RK CUSTOM
I've been looking for a quick detachable fairing with radio that would fit my Road King Custom for a while.I like the looks and ride of the Customand seldom use a windshield, buton long trips(like across South Dakota) I figured it would be nice to have a fairing.Mostrequire you to remove the chrome wind defector. Theonly one that looked like it would possible work was fromWide Open Customs. Not only does it fit nice and look nice, but at $799 with radio its less than 1/2 of mostother unit on the market. It's make of ABS plastic and not fiberglass.
I included a few pre paint pictures for fellow RK Custom owners in case they are working on their X-Mas list. I don't think the front stock turn signals would be seen. Itwasn't an issue for me as I have my turn signalsin the mirrors.

RE: Detachable fairing on RK CUSTOM
since i run with a windshield pretty much all the time, i just got a new handlebar clamp cover and trim spear and removed the chrome deflector completely. got a smoking deal on ebay, think it cost me less than 50 bucks total.
good to know about the fairing though. i was thinking of getting one later on also for long tours. was trying to decide between dead center and firebagger, now have another to add to the mix.
one question though, i have relocated the front turn signals to the forks using the hd kit, would this fairing clear those? looks like it might be tight.

When I worked at the dealership, one of the techs cut the fairing out with bar and sheilds to allow the turn signals to be visible from the front. The same tech also made one of the fairings fit over and be used on a custom not sure exactly what he did but just a little tweaking to the mounts I think.

As luck would have it. I have a HD setlike the one in your picture and yes they will clear the fairing.
