Default Softail vs. Touring - Best Touring Bike is ???

Tell you what. Have seen more "shakers" at stop lights and parking lots than I care to admit. Even though the name implies touring, I think the Heritage is a heckuva better touring bike than the rubber iso touring line. I just wish you could buy a factory softail with a fairing. Am I completely wrong?[8D]

Well, I think you are. My buddy and I went to Sturgis a couple of years ago, him on his softtail and me on my bagger... That rubber mounting may look shakey at lights, but it's smooth as hell on the road. And that softtail was a butt-chewer after many interstate miles and would have been much worse 2-up.

It amazes me to watch the motor shake at lights, but you don't notice it on the road. And that air suspension on the bagger helps you adjust much better to miles of freeway. The softtail certainly has it's good points, but as a tourer, I'd pick the FLH series anyday.

Gotta agree with Redscout here - Have owned both and love both but the bagger is the only bike for me - It may shake at the light but it's smooth and much easier to go on the long haul with

Shake, Shake, Shake at idle
means
Smooth, Smooth, Smooth at highway speeds

But don't take my word, travel down to the local HD and take a test ride

C'mon Bruce... Pics now!

It might motivate me to get pics of mine on here... (and I did get out both days last weekend, which is incredible in Indiana in January).

Yeah, it shook a lot at the lights, but I didn't spend much time there anyway..

I've had four Electra Glides and a Heritage Softail. The Heritage was very comfortable, great seating position, and very little vibraton at slower speeds (I had an '04 with the counterbalancer in the engine). But on a trip---give me my Electra Glide. Better seat, less vibration at speed, better handling, more comfortable.

There you go... 4 EG's... He ought to know what he's talking about (I'm at only 2).

60 in Jersey in January... 60 in Indiana in January.... If this is global warming I'm detuning the bike this weekend...
