Default ABC of Spkr Comparisons w/ Full Installation Guide (Pictures)

Sorry folks, I took the pictures down off the server thinking this post was dead now, then realized the pics had text around them so I toasted the entire original start to this thread. There is still enough good reading below so spend you next hour in front of the screen and remember to breath between the posts. It's long, but very informative.

If you need to know how to remove your fairing just PM me and i'll send you the info and pics.

Thanks for the post! I just might have to head over to Best Buy myself to check out a set. I am curious though, did you try the speakers WITHOUT any insulation? I would have thought that you would have wanted more air space to help with the bass. Next, ever thought about MB Quart? Rock On and ride safe. Once again very informative post. Thanks for your .02

MB Quart's are OK as well, and if I was to go with my favorites, it would be Boston Accoustics all the way, but these JBL's are rock solid, and they are priced right! As for the other questions, yes they are as impervious to water as the others are, and they did sound good without the insulation in the fairing (I tried them both ways but the bass was tighter with the sound proofing). The poly cones are water resisitant as are the tweeters. Not rocket science here guys, just a good speaker that'll compete right down to the wire with the otherbrands thrown around the forum. Cheers!

Two comments:

Pez is not with Hog Wild, Pez is HogTunes which are not the speakers you show in the middle. The HogTunes speakers have a magnet more like the JBL's. Not saying that the JBL's aren't great sounding, I'm sure the are - but in the photos they are not being compared with Pez's product.

Think twice about using locktite on the fairing screws under the windshield. When you try to remove them you will more than likely twist out the inserts in the fairing and have to replace them.

What would be the hazard in running those 2 ohm speakers with my pre HK stereo, which came with 8 ohm speakers?

My HogTunes speakers look similar to the JBL's and very happy with the quality of the sound. Would much rather deal with Pez instead of Best Buys even if it cost a few bucks more.

excellent post---after having speakers that you mentioned plus others--I was very dissapointed (listening to the hype) finallyI went with MB Quart---they are excellent.

I never thought about JBL, if the MB Quart ever die I'll give the JBLs a listen.

Have been following this speaker debate and being new to a batwing bike really appreciate the
excellent pictures.[sm=goodidea.gif] Haven't had the pleasure of peaking behing the fairng yet so that is very helpful.

Haven't actually heard Hog Tunes, JMs or anyone elses yet but one thing I know is the stock speakers suck bildge water. Will be very interested in hearing from others that try the JBLs on thier thoughts.

Once again, thanks for taking the time and trouble to post the excellent shots!

As noted...the Hogtunes from Pez are sized and built like the JBLs shown. Great sounding gear from a nice guy.
