Default mobil 1 ????

I run Mobil 1 in both my trucks and the OL's car. I would love to change my bike over to the V Twin 20w50. I live in Nashville, Tn. and have looked everywhere I can think of. Wally World, MC shops, auto parts houses. Went on line to Mobil's website and did a search and the closes place they show that carries itis in Kentucky. WTF !!! ???

Try online at avlubricants.com or avlubes.com. Forgot which. But I do remember good prices and service to your door.

I think Auto Zone will order it for you if you ask them for it, atleast they did here in GA. Now everybody down here has it..Wally World, Pepe Boys..etc...
I run it and I am very pleased with it
Good luck

Hey BillyJoeBob,

I found Mobile 1 VT 20W-50 at AutoZone in Columbia and Spring Hill a couple weeks ago. You have to ask for it though because they only put a couple quarts out on display and rarely refill. They will have a case or two in the back though, if you ask for it. Good Luck.

Run the Mobil 1 15w-50 car stuff you can get everywhere. Your bike won't know the difference and your wallet will thank you.

So what is the difference between the Mobil v-twin 20w50 and the Mobil car 15w50, other than the price?

After reading many reports and oil analysis', the only difference I see is a slightly higher quantity of an additive in the V-Twin oil that may be a benifit if you plan on running the oil beyond the recommended 5000 mile oil change interval. Since I don't exceed 5000 miles between changes, I change every 3K miles, I consider the price of the V-twin oil a waste of money. Personally I think it's more marketing gimmick than anything.

And that's right on the money. The 15w-50 has more calcium, while the 20w-50 has more phosphorous and zinc. The levels of molybdenum, magnesium, and boron are essentially the same.

Phosphorous and zinc are anti-wear compounds, but are often consideredy "last resort" in case of oil failure that allows metal-metal contact. To me the most important thing, and it weighs in favor of the 15w-50, is the calcium levels. Calcium is an acid neutralizer. Oils contain sulfur and itforms sulfuric acid compounds as time passes. The calcium neutralizes this acid build-up. More calcium means the oil can be run longer with less acid present.

I run the Mobil 1 15w-50 car oil in THE MAMA's brandy-new Nightster. The oil was changed from the factory fill at ~1000 miles. It'll get changed again at 3500 miles (2500 miles on the oil, my normal OCI) and sent to Blackstone Labs for a used oil analysis (UOA). The results will be posted in the top section of this forum.
