Rinehart Weld GONE - OK to Ride??
I was out riding yesterday and the front mount weld on my rear Rinehart True Duel completely broke, not cracked, broke. The leak is significant and sounds like total crap. Is it still OK to ride?
For those of you that have had this problem, I understand Rinehart will replace the header pipe. Is this like the end caps, replaced for the original owner within a limited time? How quickly did you receive the replacement? I had planned on riding over the upcoming long weekend.
Might be a good time to switch to the D&D Fat Cats!!!!
Thanks,
RJ (Rinehart Junk)

Maybe Rhinehart would overnight a new pipe so the inconvenience would be minimal and you'd be able to ride Labor day weekend. If overnight or something comparable is not possible, I'd take the pipe they do eventually send, e-bay the whole Rhinehart setup to get away from their product and go with D&D Fattys. Hopefully Rhinehart will come thru and accomodate you, but I wouldn't ride if the leak is "significant".

RE: Rinehart Weld GONE - OK to Ride??
Hey RJ - Agree with everyone else. Don't ride it. The leak is causing a major lean condition in that cylinder. I agree you should get it welded up. I doubt Rhinehart will overnight you one at their cost, but you never know. Sucks to potentially miss a ride because of this.
So will that be a black or chrome Fatcat?

Thanks for the replies. Guess I will spend the best riding day in weeks pulling the exhaust off.....bummer.
BZ, too far down the chrome road to make a change now but your bike definitley makes me think real hard about going black!!
I guess I have some more homework to do. I am planning on doing head work and a cam swap this winter. I was planning on keeping the Rienharts because I like the look and just doing a SERT (no O2 bungs in the Rienharts) and Dyno time with Doug Lofgren who is the master tuner. Now I am thinking maybe I should go D&D Fat Cats, quiet baffles with O2 bungs and a DTT (same price as a SERT and Dyno time) .......sell the Reinharts on e-bay.......collect aluminum cans from trash containers to fund my addiction......find a rich woman on the side......
Later,
RJ
