Default Done, low rider console on street bob, (tach installed)

I just got done installing a low rider console on my 06 street bob with the stock low rider tach. The install was not to difficult, although I did have to do some soldering of ends and splicing into the main harness to the speedo and installed 5 LEDs. If anyone is thinking about doing this, or would like to and would like additional information, PM me and I will explain the process I took to do it.
Kinda nice to have tach now."
I would like to send out a big "Thank you" to two fellow risers here, Jakyl for the console and SalC for the tach trade.

Stranger pics are way to big to see, do you have any shot of the whole bike.

I'd like to see a rider point of view shot. What did you do with the indicator lights? I've been thinking of making a similar conversion, but not sure exactly how to go about doing it.

Well here are some instructions on how I did it

The process is actually simple to an extent. You will or do have the console. Now what you will need to get is a Harley Davidson tach from a low rider. Now I know that you can get one from Harley, but be prepared to pay some cash for this. I am not sure but I would assume somewhere around $200.00 or so. You will also need to get the plug in harness that goes into the back of the tach. Now recently I heard that under the gas tank of the bike is the wires needed to install a tach. They use the same harness for all the bikes and just hide the tach wires under tank. Now I did not go this route but you may want to think about trying to find them, the plug in you will need may be there, not sure. You will also need to get (if you dont have one now) a manual from Harley for your bike. In the back will be a wiring diagram for your gauges. You will need this to look at what color wires are used for the tach on the low rider. I assume that they are the same ones on my bike, but you need to make sure.
I had seven wires that go to the speedo, of which I had to use 5 of. I just did an in-line splice, which means I scraped away part of the insulation and then solder on the new 5 wires to the existing 5 of seven that matched colors of the wires. This is what I did for the tach.
Now as for the indicator lights, I cut off my old ones from the existing indactor lights about 2 inches away, leaving myself about 3 inches on the part that goes to the wiring harness, so that I could strip these wires, solder on new LED lights. Now the LEDs. I bought mine from http://www.theledlight.com/BargainBasement.htmland I bought the ones that for 12 volts, meaning that they have the resistors inline already and can be hooked right up to a 12 volt system without any further work required. Look at the first ones listed, by color. I got red for oil, orange for turn signals, green for neutral and blue for brights, but I would suggest that maybe you try something else for brights, the blue is just about blinding at night, funny how the brights are to help you see yet when I hit them the blue LED was bright I was almost blinded. I was thinking maybe yellow. Anyways.... I then found the spots you can see on the console to as to where I wanted to have them mounted. To start the drill process I used a small drill then I went to a 3/16" bit that seemed to work. It was tight, but all I did was bush them up, and then used silicon on the underside to help seal them in. This is all after I solder them to the plug that goes into the main harness plug. I will send you a couple of pics also to show you this. After all this, I tried the indactor lites and they worked. Then I started the bike up and tada, it worked. Again this is not very hard but if you do not have a solder gun, go get one, and a good one not a cheap one.

Like what you did. Any advice out there for fitting a tach set-up to a 2007 FXD? Apparently when HD changed the FXDC in '06 to a Lowrider 35th anniversary the tach set-up for the FXD went away. Nothing shown in the HD catalog (tach kit) for 06-07. I sure would like to have a tach.

Check mid way through this thread. It can be done andDGlide04 even gives you part numbers.
