Default Keeping bike clean when changing oil

I changed my oil myself for the first time about 2 weeks ago and I have a question. How do yo-u keep oil from getting all over when you remove the filter? I was just reading an issue of american iron and they showed an oil change being done using an "oil Bib" anyone use one of these? The website i found for them says we would have to remove the voltage regulator and the crank sensor prior to using it.

I save the cheap plastic bags from stores and they end up being my free Bike bibs.
You can even tie the handles around stuff to keep them in place.
Snip them loose with anything and ball them up, then place them inone more free plastic bag.
Two bags together are good for the Oil filter too.

Save an empty 1L soda bottle. Cut it into a cross section. Rest the cross section under the oil filter. When removing the oil filter, allow the soda bottle to collect the runout. Pull out the oil filter and carefully lift the soda bottle away.

I use a cross sectioned Mobil 1 75W90 tanny fluid bottle. I kept the cap on the bottle and fitted it with a short bit of tubing. When I remove the oil filter, the oil is caught by the Mobil 1 bottle and routed through the cap - tubing to the drain pan. Not even a drop on my Street Glide's voltage regulator or front engine mount.

I tried but I can't draw it. If you want I can take a picture and post it.

I use the box the new filter comes in. Just bust it open, lay it flat and make a little funnel out of it, slides right in behind the filter. Otherwise I have used the pop bottle method as well and that works great.

I just git some S-100 motor cleaner and spray it on the motor, let it sit and rinse it off and wash it with soapy water and blow it off with my cycle dryer. Seen my indy builder and the dealer do the same thing.

OK, I took some pictures. Heres the gear lube bottle...

I recommend using a larger ID tubing so the oil can drain from the bottle quicker.
