Default My Big sucker II AC leaks oil, damn it!

2,400 miles on my 06' 1200L, found oil leak on the bottom of my big sucker AC, clean it off, rode for 15 miles, drip drip drip.....I have lowered the oil level(half way on the dip stick) but didn't help at all. I wish I can find a solution here, anyone? Thanks Alex

I installed an oil line bypass kit on mine. NRHS makes one along with others. The carb is designed to mix air & fuel NOT air/fuel/oil. IMO
You can see the bypass line & filter trap in my sig pic below the NRHS A/C. Absolutly no oil mess anymore.

thanks, do you have a link? do you have a Big sucker AC or NRHS? the big sucker backing plate is part of the carb mount, not sure if the breather kit is going to work for me.

I have the NRHS A/C. Worst case you would plug the bypass openings in the back of the Big Sucker back plate if they enter after the filter. The link for the NRHS kit is here at the bottom of the page. http://www.nrhsperformance.com/partshurricaneflow.shtml.

I'm sure there are others here that have done the bypass mod on the Big Sucker that may have additional info.

Note, I did use braided fuel line instead of black rubber fuel tubing for looks.

Dont worry. your not alone.

This may be a "no no" crossing forum links, but I am also a memeber @ XLforum.net and there is a thread about this exact problem, and one guys fix, along with part#'s and detailed instructions.

Personally, i have not did mine yet, but I will. Here is the link, and forgive me, if I stepped on any toes. just trying to pass on info to those that need it.

You can flip through all the pages, or start at page 5 of the thread.

Good luck.

I have a big sucker with a custom external breather made for it. It wont' help you though. My big sucker leaked oil even with the external breather. I can help you make one for your big sucker, but there is one part that is very rare to find an no longer in production. Just remember that even with that my big sucker would not stop leaking.

I'm confused. How can your Big Sucker still leak oil if you installedoil bypass lines? There should not be any oil lines routed to/through the A/C. [:@]

Is that similar to this?
Now it makes me wonder where the oil goes if you have an external breather. Leaking below the AC is bad but oil leak under the bike is even worse. I wouldn't mind if it leaks every 1,000 miles, I can just wipe it.

The oil that passes through the bypass line is an insignificant mist. You will never see it and it won't puddle on the ground or "wet" the rear tire. The problem comes when it builds up in the A/C can and then runs out down the motor and your leg.

Yep, That's the answer. It's basically what I did, problem solved.
