Street Bob Kickstand Spring FELL OFF Going 60
I heard a real strange sound going 60, so I back off
and pulled her over to find much to my surprise, my
kickstand was down. I always put my kickstand up
before I start the bike. Another rider had a bungee
cord that worked holding it up for the rest of the day.
I got lucky that time, could have been worse.
Anyone else have this happen to there Street Bob?

RE: Street Bob Kickstand Spring FELL OFF Going 60
i have the same exact problem but mine has never fell down while driving. Mine only comes off when i pick up my stand, EVERY TIME!!! each and every time i pick it up, i have to lean down and force the spring ther rest of the way back on the little stud it hooks around. most of the time it just almost comes off but it has fallen off a few times when i kicked the stand up before. I have only brought it to out of town dealers while off working when i brought my bike with no results so far, so next time i am home with some time i will bring it to my local dealer.

twofish,
I had the same thing happen to me doing 65 down the interstate. I heard something like the bottom of engine was coming thru the cases. I pull off to the side and my buddy held my bike up while I tried to replace the spring. Couldn't. I tied it up to the frame, put the spring in my pocket and returned 30 miles to my dealer. They took it right in. It seems the rubber bumper the stand rests on in the up position had slid forward or never was in the right spot to start with, allowing for extra movement of the stand. Anyway they replaced everything and slid the bumper to its proper spot. I check its placement ever so often and in over 14,000 miles it has not happened again.
Dookie, your spring may be stretched or the C hooks too open. I could not reattach the spring on the side of the road.

ss377,
when i have to reach down there to put it back on it isn't all the way off, the spring is just not seated right on the stud. I just have to push it on the rest of the way. From what i can tell the spring isn't streched and the hook on both ends looks ok. Thanks for the info on the rubber stop, i will have to look at it tommorow.
with the "ss377" it sound like you have a drag car. if so what you got???
