Default H-K v8.19 "Fixes"

These are some of the changes included in the 8.19 software:
Added Robustness to CD update procedure - this should aid in error free
updating
Resolved the issue of the radio turning back on when a CD is present
Changed the wording for the sidecar speaker DTC 2027 - Diagnostic text says
"Shorted to Ground" instead of "Shorted to Battery"
Improved the clock accuracy – This was part of 8.11 also
Increased the audio output level for devices connected to the “AUX” input jack.
In order for the increase to take effect, the radio will have to be re-set to factory
defaults. (See
TT-243)
Please understand this.... You CANNOT INSTALL v8.19 on top of any version LESS than v8.11....
It is JUST like Microsoft Windows Update....
All updates are designed like a sandwich, you MUST layer them for it to operate correctly....

Wish I could get my dealer to upgrade mine. They didn't even know any upgrades were available. Mine still has 7 point something. MOCO customer service said the 8.19 could just be loaded right in. They said no need to work my work my way up. They said the disc with 8.19 on it carries all of the upgrades.

8.19 solved my radio problem where it turned on all by itself.

SB,
Thanks so much for the info.

Aside from what SB said, here is what I have noticed:
1. It seems like nomatter what the instructions say will happen, everyone gets different results, i.e. disc comes out once, twice, never, radio resets or doesn't reset, etc.
2. I had some version prior to 8.9 (can't remember the #). Upgraded to 8.9 with no problems. Well, the disc didn't come in and out as the intructions noted but who cares. What I noticed was that AVC worked much better...was much more fluid like instead of in steps. Also, the sound was much fuller (I'm kinda old, partly deaf, tone impaired and have tinnitus which makes me an expert on sound). Clock still ran fast.
3. I upgraded to 8.19 (never saw anything between 8.9 and 8.19). Things still didn't happen as the instructions said but, still didn't care. AVC stayed the same but, my finely tuned ears did pick up a lack of fullness in the sound. I wasn't impressed. I reloaded 8.9. Fullness of sound came back. Don't know what the clock ever did....hell, I can't see it anyway.
4. Lastly, I probably differ from most. I don't use the cd and don't play mp3's. Although, I have once or twice and everything worked fine. I typically only use the radio when in the city and once I hit the open road, the radio goes off and I sit back and take in the sites. If I sit far enough back, I can maybe read the clock.
