Default Conversion of Driving Lights to operate on Low AND High beams!

Wahl, ah've spent the past several days tracin' wires an' such, and have found a safe an' "proper" way ta provide power to the driving/spot lights whether on "high" or "low" beam. If ya'll are interested, holler an' ah'll post details an' some pics. Takes about 30 minutes and some nominal solderin'/wirin' skills ta do it right.

little slow on this one aren't you????
Just kidding with you......................
Mine was a snap. But then again the fairing is gone and the switches are now in left side cover!
I believe it is splice yellow / red wire on the accessory switch to the power wire on the spot switch. Will stay on all the time the spot switch is on.

Wahl, hell - ah've only had it 4 months now - an' until ah wuz DANG shore 'bout the wirin' (read: read the schematics 3-4 times afore ah cut ANY wire) ah didn't wanna say anything - but it's an orange w/red trace wire jest fer the record. That circuit is a (fused) 15 amp one, same as the headlights - so it'll readily take the load. Since ah'm pullin' it on the "feed" side of the Aux. switch, it will be "hot" any time the ignition is on, an' ah'll use the Aux. circuit now ta "fire" a relay coil fer the other accessories that ah'll be wiring into the system. Best ah kin tell, ah'll have 'bout 6 or so auxillary relays when it's all said an' done.

The fairing strobe system is due in next week - lookin' forward ta gettin' THAT installed, as well!

Kurt,

Thanks for the wiring diagram. That will give me something to do this weekend.

Anybody do this on a Deluxe yet? I haven't looked at the book/wiring diagrams, but since they don't have the aux switch to tap into, I didn't know what wire might be available.

I did this mod last summer while I was changing something, can't remember exactly why I had the front fairing off. Anyway, I have much better vision on high beam now with the spots always on. The Acc switch on an Ultra is a pita to access, it is under the radio. Once complete, it was well worth the effort though. The single high beam bulb did not light the sides very well, especially close to the bike. I aimed my spots to light the edge of the road where those deer lie in wait to attack without any warning. Good luck with the mod.
