Is Mobil 1 15W-50 ok?
I am getting ready to change oil this weekend and wanted to go to Mobil 1. The only place in town that sells Mobil 1 is Walmart and it is 15-50. I read on the "oil" thread that some guys are using this. Any one out there had any experience with this type? I can't really see much difference but I am no expert. Thanks!

These guys are messing with you. Mobil1 15w-50 is excellent. I've been using it forever... and BelRay Hypoid in the transmission. Not only is the Mobil1 a great product, it is readily available wherever you may roam. My trusted friend and Service Manager told me years ago that it is the best stuff out there. I've seen results....cam changes, displacement changes....virtually no wear on any metallic surface.
If you do a search on this Forum on the subject, you'll find that the two most used lubricants are Amsoil and Mobil1. Either are stellar.

I use MobileI 20w/50w V Twin, and have great service in all my new HarleyO5,o6 which my son now runs and when I get the engine run in at 3000 I will switch it to 20w 50w V Twin you can also get Mobile v twin 30w/50w from your local Advance auto parts store cost around 8.00 a gt plus tax I also useMobile gear syn 90 win my transmission.in make it run quiter and it is not as hot as reg oil,I tried it on a new 02 Gold Wing bak then as I had been using amsoil oil Ist and it worked great aluse it on a couple BMW are ran quiter and cooler those are the only one I have tried I am sure they are other out there but I like both Amsoil and Mobile V Twin you will be amazed when you change a lot of people change after 1000 mile service I use to change my own oil all the time and I was realy empressed with the ammount of shaving that came out on the Ist change at 5-600 miles so I figure I would not switch till 3000 mile after the switch to mobile 1 and or Amsoil the oil clear up no more pinking etc oH yes I switch the transmission at 1000 milesto Mobile gear oil on the 05 and 06 HD FLHT1 I used Amsoil gear oil got much smoother going in to gear and no more whine. good luck whatever you choose and your HD dealer will use your synin your bikeit does not cancel your warr.I started riding in 46 on a 41 HD 45 in the service the dealerships here in my area all are great people to deal with and very helpful,I know lots of people qripe about their cost on service but it still a fact they have to make a buck to survive.Ride safe

I jsut chnaged to this oil in the crankcase yesterday. Put some in the primary today. We shall see if I have any clutch slippage as I have read that some have with synthetic in the pirmary. I am going to ride it tonight...So Far so good, and by the way I have never used a fully synthetic oil in any bike I have ever had (this is number 13). I said what the hell, maybe it will protect it better...
