Default Road King is Done - pics included

Well...

The bike is now 99.9% done and ready to ride. I am waiting only on the air cleaner cover I have on order from HD, and need to get the rear wheel alligned.

I was able to take the bike down the street the other nite to fuel-up, but I still have less than 5 miles on the scoot. As expected, it started raining about 5 minutes after I tightened the last bolt...So, hopefully tomorrow will be be clear in the PM and allow for some test riding.

Without trying to get too long-winded, I'll try to go over some of the stuff that I did over the winter months...

To start with, the bikeis a 1999 andhad been involved in a low-speed drop, in which the left-side bag was destroyed, and some scuffing of shiny stuff took place.

So, I tore the bike down to the frame & motor and went to work:

All bodywork was painted in a factory GM Sandstone Metallic to match my Chevy Silverado Pick-Up
Lower fairings from a 2k4 Ultra Classic, and my rear drive pully were also painted to match.
Forks (chrome), swingarm & wheels from a 2k1 were installed in place of the original equipment.

Many parts were powdercoated to match the paint, including:
swingarm
calipers (front & rear)
oil filler spout
oil line cover
oil filter mount
air deflector
switch housings & lever mounts
front master cylinder
passenger footboard mounts
lower saddlebag supprt bars
starter solenoid cover
stock passenger footboards (not used)
-front rotors were polished

I added:

Wild 1 'beach bars' (internal wiring)
SS braided cables (throttle/idle, clutch & brake)
Kurykian 'trigger' levers
Samson 'oval' slip-ons
Walters Workshop's smoked tail-light lens & fender tip lenses
Clear optic bulbs (headlight & passing lamps) were used in place of oem units
Landmark 'low-profile' gas cap & LED fuel gauge
Avon 'Venom' tires

HD SweptWing footboards (rider & passenger)
HD Streamliner footboard inserts w/matching brake & shifter peg
HD Hard leather saddlebags (RK Custom) were installed in place of the original fiberglass units
HD 'solo' seat was recoverd with ostrich insert (also have a Corbin for 2-up riding)
HD 'Airelon' grips
HD reduced effort clutch kit
HD emblems from 2k7 Road King 'custom'
HD 'twisted' shift linkage

I also installed:

HD chrome 'profile' bag guards
HD 'classic' teardrop mirrors
HD chrome switches
HD chrome regulator cover
HD 'v-logo' fender rails
HD chrome fuel tank mounting hardware
HD chrome master cylinder covers
HD chrome bolt kits (caliper, switch housing, derby cover)
HD chrome lifter block cover
HD chrome cylinder base cover
HD chrome front axle covers
HD chrome fork sliders
HD chrome carb topp cover
HD chrome debris/belt guard
HD layback plate mount
HD chrome spark plug covers
HDchrome oil dipstick
HD chrome caliper inserts
HD smoked turnsignal lenses

There is prolly more stuff that I forgot - but thats OK.

I will take some better pictures when the weather permits...but here are some I snapped in the garage - Let me know what you think.

ORIGINAL: masterblaster

How much $.

Much less than you would think.

I got the bike @ a really good price, partly due to the damage, moreso due to the guy needing $$$.

The suspension parts I got from another wrecked bike...

Most of the 'new' HD parts were bought @ shops that were having their 'inventory' sales - the streamliner footboards for example were 75% off. Right place @ the right time kinda thing.
