The OFFICIAL Los Angeles Area meet, eat and greet thread...
So as most of you know by now, we are meeting at 12:30pm at Neptunes Net in Mailbu. The address is 42505 Pacific Coast Hwy Malibu, CA on Sunday March 11th, 2007. I am posting this here as I figure this forum gets the most exposure and I want all to have a chance to see this. I will bring nametags so we can all be known by our forum names and make the connection. I don't know about you, but I am a little slow with names. We will be meeting at the tables that are just north of the parking lot, so join us there and have some fun. I do believe that we will have people coming from all over California, north and south. Come on out and meet your HDF brothers and sisters. If this is sucess, it will hopefully become a quarterly, if not monthly or bi monthly event. See you there on Sunday...

Weather for both Saturday and Sunday is forecast to be sunny and around 80 degrees. Doesn't get any better than that.
I was at the venue (Neptune's Net) yesterday at around 11:30 a.m., and the place was already packed with cars and bikes (there was a Mustang club, a Chevy club and a Lotus club). I was told by the manager that motorcycle parking will be restricted to the 25 spaces out front and spaces perpendicular to the sidewalk along the road. The parking lot itself will be limited to cars only. Shouldn't be a problem, though.
While the tables right in front of the place were full, the picnic tables at the far end of the parking lot were pretty much unoccupied, so that should be where we end up.
One word of caution: You may want to cross the road to stand by the water to watch the surfers. If you do, be very careful, as the restaurant is situated on a curve and cars and bikes zoom by at a high rate of speed. A young man was killed right in front of the place a few weeks ago walking across the road. His picture and a plaque are still on a post in front of the place.
If you haven't been there before, and you're coming from the north, you're in for a real scenic treat. Take the Las Posas exit off the 101, go straight for several miles through lettuce and onion fields, then turn south on Highway 1. It's a great ride. Neptune's Net will come up suddenly on your left as you round a curve, so be ready.
If you're coming from the south, you can take either the Las Virgenes exit or, further north, the Kanan exit off the 101. There are gas stations at all the exits. In either case turn left and keep going until you get to the water (you can't miss it) then turn north. Las Virgenes takes you through Malibu Canyon. It's twistier and shorter than Kanan, which has three tunnels to Las Virgenes' one, but you'll move faster on Kanan as it has some passing lanes in spots.
If anyone who hasn't been wants to visit the Rock Store, take the Kanan exit off the 101; proceed up a steep grade and down the other side. Turn left at Sierra Road (there's a restaurant on the corner); go about 500 yards to the end and turn right on Mulholland; the Rock Store is about 1/2 mile up on the left.
Watch for CHP throughout the entire area; they're very active on the weekends. Watch out for sport bikes as well. They're on you like mosquitos around there.
Looking forward to meeting you....
Philip
