Default Last words on Helmets

From what I gather. Helmets are not the in thing but save lives. It's fun to look cool, but most wrecks are close to home. Thanks!

I switched to a half helmet recently. Didn't want to, but anything over 80 degree's its just too warm for the full face. Mainly too hot because of the RKC windshield that blocks the wind fromhitting me in the face. That said, I guess around town I could take off the windshield and then wear the full face but now after wearing the half helmet, I'm in love with it!!!! [:@]

Helmet at all times, looking "cool" only goes so far, easy way to get killed in even the most minor accident - which is rarely your own fault by the way... Prefer not to put my life in the hands of morons (cage drivers).

I hate wearing one. I think it is more dangerousfor me because it is very distracting andit annoys meto wear it, but I have grown up in a helmet free state and that is all I know.

I hate riding to MO because of the helmet law but I really don't enjoy the beautiful scenery with the thing on my head.

No problem with those that want to wear them. I don't go helmet free because I think it looks "cool", I do it because it is my CHOICE.

As far as them saving lives, that is questionable. Just like anything else sometimes they might, sometimes they don't. IMO

HELMET LAWS SUCK - Let those that ride DECIDE.

yeah, I read somwhere that most accidents happen within 15 miles of home. So we moved 30 miles away.[8D]

I support the right to chose because I hate Big Brother dictating what I MUST do. There are way too many laws that tell me what I have to do for my own good.

I CHOOSE to wear my helmet (Florida rider) because that is my choice, but I fully support anyone that chooses not to.

I live in a helmet free state and typically will wear a half helmet if I go riding all day. You make a good point saying that most wrecks occur close to home since I typically never wear one on short trips.

I've been riding since the 1970's, and have never worn a helmet (unless passing through a state where it was required)..

Not a big deal, as it is just my choice.

I don't understand the "helmet vs no helmet" threads that pop up every week or so.

Every adult should be able to make their own decisions when it comes to personal safety issues when riding. Some wear full face helmets and special leathers, even during the hot summer months. Some like me wear a sleeveless T-shirt and jeans..

I could care less what type of riding gear people want to wear, as that is up to each individual, but I don't think it is the job of "Big Brother Government" to mandate what is required.
