07 shift points
Trying to decide if I'm over revving my e glide. Owners manual has recommended shift points that seem way the hell too low. 1st H.D. and I'm used to the higher winding 4cyl. machines. Been trying to keep the Rs no lower than about 22 to 25 hundred. Shifting into 6th about 70mph. Any opinions?

Those are recomendations, I follow them till the bike is fully warmed up. Then, what ever I feel like. It's got a rev. limiter on it. I think 5800. A Stage1 bumps that up to I think 6200. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've never hit the rev. limiter, and I run it up to 95 in 5th.

You aren't going to hurt that engine unless you lug it....I don't like to ride under 2500 at all beause my motor is luggin at 2200. My torque curve is the most robust from 2600 to 3500. The bike runs perfect at 26-2900rpm. But if I roll on the throttle at 21-2200 you can feel the strain of the engine pulling. Rev that motor....

I typically shift my '07 at 3,000 rpms. If I'm travelling a steady 60 to 65 mph I use 6th gear; works fine. When accelerating downshift from 6th or your motor may not stay happy. I personnaly don't see the need to be doing 70+ mph to use 6th; at least on my fine machine.

RE: 07 shift points
I think traffic depends on the shift points. The reccomended shift points for my 07 harley can be too low for certain situations, and way too high for other situations. I shift at whatever rpm is required at any given time. But yes on straightaways with no traffic, no lights...those reccomended shift points are way the hell too low.
