Would You Buy a Used Livewire for the Right Price?

Used Livewire motorcycles are going for literal pennies on the dollar compared to new.

Depreciation Game

When the Livewire originally debuted, it did so to a decided mix of reactions, as one would imagine. After all, the mere topic of an all-electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle is bound to be controversial, but the fact that it cost nearly $30k when the original Livewire first came out was yet another point of contention. That bike - now called the "One" - has since received a price drop, taking it down into the $22k range, but this used One up for grabs on Facebook Marketplace is far cheaper.

Early Model

Like most EVs, depreciation has hit the Livewire hard, meaning that this one is selling for a mere $12,800 - less than half its original MSRP, even though it's not terribly old - in fact, it's a 2020 model, making it one from the first year of production.

Halo Bike

The Livewire cost a lot of money when it was new, but it was also designed to be a halo bike of sorts, and as such, is packed with nice finishes and features like a mono shock rear swingarm, a two-piece cantilever seat, and a cast aluminum frame. No one ever really complained about the looks of the Livewire, and for good reason - it's a nicely done, handsomely styled machine.

Plenty of Performance

There's also plenty of performance on tap - 105 horsepower and 86 pound-feet of torque coming from its electric motor, with around 100 miles of range available from its 24kW battery pack. And while NACS is taking over the world of EVs and EV chargers, the bike's CCS1 port is still supported across the country, regardless.

One Problem

Finished in black and garage-kept since new, this Livewire hasn't been ridden much over the past few years, as there are a mere 2,157 miles showing on the odometer at the moment. There's only one big flaw that's worth noting, and that's the fact that the TFT screen is leaking glue - a common issue with these bikes.

Right Price?

Regardless, this Livewire's bargain basement price tag makes it an enticing buy, at least to those who might consider owning an all-electric motorcycle in the first place. The real question is - will traditional bikers go for such a machine at the right price, or will they still shun the idea of giving up their roaring V-Twins in general?
