Bagger Showdown

Baggers have always prioritized comfort over speed, but that hasn't stopped folks from racing these big two-wheelers. Just take the Battle of the Baggers as proof of that. But instead of a circle track showdown, this video from YouTuber CycleDrag pits two of today's best baggers against each other in drag race - the 2021 Harley Road Glide and the 2021 Indian Challenger.

Power vs Weight

Harley's Road Glide utilizes a 114-inch Milwaukee-Eight powerplant that cranks out 100 horsepower and 119 pound-feet of torque but tips the scales at around 820 pounds. Meanwhile, the Indian Challenger is powered by a 108-inch engine that produces 122 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque, which has to move just shy of 800 pounds.

Bragging Rights

On paper, the Indian has a slight advantage, but sometimes, that doesn't translate to victories on the drag strip. The only way to find out which bike is faster is to do just that, in this case with a best two out of three races with the winner taking home bragging rights and a $500 cash prize.

Race One

In the first race, the Harley rider trees the Indian rider into submission, but the more powerful Challenger uses its horsepower advantage to reel it in on the big end. The Road Glide winds up running a 13.51, just barely getting edged out by the Challenger, which ran a 13.47.

Non-Race

The two riders switch lanes for round two, which never really gets off the ground. The Indian bogged, stalled, and never really got off the line, so the rider didn't even bother to try to catch the Harley, which ran a 13.56 to take home an easy victory in the second go-round.

Final Race

Thus, it all comes down to race #3. Once again, the Harley rider gets the jump, but the Indian launches cleanly and it's a drag race this time around. This one isn't quite as close either, as the Challenger runs a 13.11 compared to the Road Glide's 13.60.

Stark Difference

The Harley rider gave it all he had and put up a good fight, but the Challenger's weight and power advantage ultimately made up for its rider's mistakes. But as we all know, a few mods should easily help the Road Glide take down a Challenger if the owner decides to go that route.
