Open Case

With only eleven miles on the clock, 'used' is an overstatement for this 2016 CVO Street Glide. Like 'brand' new is way more accurate. Recently sold at auction, no reason was provided as to why the FLHXSE has never seen the open road. Whatever the case, this perfectly preserved Twin Cam is in desperate need of some highway time.

Cool Package

Located in Fort Myers, Florida, the Street Glide was purchased from the original owner by a dealer, who in turn offered it at auction. The winning bid for the premium-package machine was $33,500, which is only $3,299 under its 2016 MSRP of $36,799. Comparatively, a new 2022 CVO Street Glide will set you back a cool $41,899.

Unused Standard

The current seller indicated that they acquired the CVO in April 2022, and subsequently replaced the battery, changed the oil, and flushed the brake and clutch fluids. The bike had obviously been sitting untouched since new. Of note, the tires, despite being unused, would technically need replacing as they have already reached their industry standard shelf-life of six years.

Collectible Plan

It is baffling why someone would purchase a new Street Glide, not ride it, and then sell it at a loss six years later. If it was purchased as an investment that plan seems to have backfired. While the CVO is a top-shelf model, it is currently not old enough to be a collectible—not for a couple more decades at least.

Starter Owner

It might be understandable if the bike was a lesser model, purchased and then abandoned by a novice rider, but a CVO Street Glide is certainly not a 'starter' bike. Perhaps it originated as a raffle win or a gift. It could also be that the original owner suddenly passed away after the initial purchase—there is no way of telling.

Dad Job

One comment in the otherwise serious bidding exchange humorously sums up the somewhat ominous-looking CVO. “If Darth Vader was my Dad, he would buy me this Harley-Davidson.” The quip is actually a fairly good conceptual description of the high-end touring machine, presented in Carbon Crystal with Phantom Flames. All 2016 CVO Street Glides were embellished with flame paint jobs.

Equipped Touring

While the paint seems similar to Harley-Davidson's ubiquitous Vivid Black, the Phantom Flames accenting makes it pop in the sunlight. The CVO Street Glide is fitted with a partially liquid-cooled Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110. First introduced in 2014, it was the largest displacement engine on offer at the time. Known as Twin-Cooled, the limited liquid-cooling technology was found on all touring models by 2016.

Serious Chapter

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are known for their heirloom quality and the history they gather. Of just over 6,000 CVO Street Glides built in 2016, only 1731 were offered in Carbon Crystal. While its rarity is somewhat debatable, it certainly is a standout. It is difficult to predict the next chapter for this limited-edition machine, but hopefully, it finally involves some serious touring miles!
