Bandanas are worn for their looks and function.

Bikers don't just wear bandanas to look tough, these square pieces of cloth have more than one purpose. They can be worn differently, but are worn that way for a reason. Want to know the top reasons why bikers wear a bandana? Continue clicking.

1. It Will Keep You Warm

For those days the temperature drops, you can use one or two bandanas to keep you warm. Use one as a neck gaiter and the second around your mouth. If you have a bigger bandana, you can wear it to cover both your neck and mouth. Whichever way you wish to wear it, the bandana will keep the cold air out.

2. It Will Keep You Cool

When the temperature goes up, you can wet a bandana and put it around your neck to keep you cool, but if it is a really hot day, you will need to re-wet it on every gas stop. Another way riders use these is on their heads. It is useful to keep the sweat away.

3. It Will Protect Your Lungs

Keeping the environment in mind, you wan't to make sure you aren't endangering your lungs. Putting a bandana around your mouth will keep dust, sand, bugs or any other particulars from entering your mouth. Not worrying about what could enter your mouth should make for a more enjoyable ride.

4. It is a Functional Fashion

There are so many patterns and colors, there is no way you won't be able to find a bandana that fits your style. Plus, it is a great way to keep your hair in place, or, for the ladies, bangs off of your face. It can also be used as a scrunchy if you are in need of one.

5. It Will Make You Look Tough

Maybe you don't care much for fashion, but rather want that aggressive, tough image. Well, bandanas can accomplish that, too. You might want to remember that wearing a bandana, especially around your face, will make you look like an outlaw on the run. If you are okay with that, then by all means channel your inner Jesse James.
