Modified Road King Makes Mincemeat of Suzuki Hayabusa

Surprising Result

It's no secret that in the motorcycle world, off the showroom floor, there are far faster bikes out there than those sold by Harley-Davidson. It also makes perfect sense, because Harleys are supposed to be cruisers, two-wheelers we can ride around on in comfort - not stoplight-to-stoplight dragsters. However, that doesn't mean Harleys can't be made far quicker with the right parts, and that fact is on display in this video from Drag V Twin.

Various Upgrades

This particular Road King has been treated to a number of modifications, though what, exactly, those might remain a bit of a mystery. Regardless, it's owned by the folks at Ward Performance, and we can at least spot an upgraded exhaust and a massive air filter. The way it goes, it certainly seems like the bike's Milwaukee powerplant is churning out more than its stock rating of 83 horsepower.

Tale of Two Bikes

Since Ward sells Harley performance parts like cams and throttle bodies, at the very least, it's probably rocking those goodies. Thing is, the Hayabusa that it's lining up against is pretty darn potent in stock form, too, with a 1,340cc, inline-four cylinder engine churning out an impressive 195 horsepower.

Close Match

This particular Hayabusa is also sporting an aftermarket exhaust, as far as we can see, but it isn't clear if there are additional mods present. Either way, the resulting race between these two rides is a pretty exciting one that doesn't end with any decisive victory for either bike.

Lift and Go

The Harley lifts its front wheel and goes, catapulting ahead to quickly take the lead. it never relents as it flies down the quarter-mile, claiming a victory by the time it crosses the finish line. Unfortunately, there are no times provided for these passes, but stock Hayabusas are capable of running 10s in the quarter, so we imagine that would be a safe bet.
