Quick Mayhem
Harley-Davidson recently announced two bolt-on 'Limited Edition Paint Sets' for select Softail and Touring models. 'Limited' really does mean limited. Only one-hundred Quick Shift, and one-hundred and fifty of the Mayhem sets are on offer worldwide. Better act fast if you are looking for a next-level factory-custom paint job. Warranty Availability
Paint sets are covered by a one-year warranty. If a set is installed at a certified Harley-Davidson dealership within sixty days of purchasing a new motorcycle, the set is then eligible for an extended two-year warranty. The Quick Shift set is available for the 2018 and later Breakout and Fat Bob, and the Mayhem set for 2017 and newer Road King, Street Glide, and Road Glide.

Aesthetic Noise
In a press release, Harley-Davidson said that the Limited Edition Paint Sets are meant to “embody the feeling of speeding away from the everyday noise.” In what some are calling a departure from tradition, the sets have a modern aesthetic, taking cues from 'Club Style' multi-panel paint jobs and the look of stunt riding builds. Either way, the 'go-fast' sets are a sure way to stand out in a crowd.

Number Nod
The Mayhem set features a reworked classic number one logo. Drawing upon over a century of racing success, the design acknowledges the Motor Company's wins at AMA Flat Track, NHRA Pro Stock and their underdog efforts in AMA Superbike racing. In an understated press release, Harley-Davidson said, “The performance-inspired number one logo set within the deep charcoal on the saddlebags gives a subtle nod to Harley-Davidson racing heritage.”

Quick Shift
Breakout and Fat Bob owners can customize their ride with the Quick Shift edition. The set sports a base that swoops and slashes with Gun Metal Metallic and Vivid Black panels separated by Pewter pinstriping over the entire bike. The bold, performance junkie, accent stripes across the fuel tank, front fender, and rear fender are available in either Hyper Orange, Yellow, or Green.

Daily Mayhem
The touring-bound Mayhem set “accelerates from the front to the back.” The set features an Inferno Red Pearl and Phantom Black base, Ghost White with Brushed Silver Highlights and red pinstripes. In part inspired by a racing history, Harley-Davidson's website adds a therapeutic note to the design by stating, “Riding motorcycles is a way to overcome the mayhem that ensues in our daily lives.”

Unique Ride
Designed by Harley-Davidson stylists, each set is hand-painted by skilled artists. Sets are also individually serialized and come with a certificate of authenticity. Celebrating the unique experience of riding, a Motor Company promotional video qualified the overall design approach by explaining, “Every ride is different, what you see, how you feel, changes each time you roll-out on two wheels.”

Push Limits
The Limited Edition Paint Sets sales pitch has an interesting existential twist. Harley-Davidson's website states, “Sometimes you ride to push the limits of the machine until everything outside of that moment fades away. The feeling of riding a motorcycle is something that cannot be explained through words — it has to be experienced for one to truly understand.”

Set Price
Feelings might be hard to articulate, but not the price. The Mayhem set starts at just under $7000, not including options. The Chopped Tour-Pak adds another $1699 to the total. The Quick Shift rings up at a nudge under $3100 for the Breakout, and just shy of $3000 for the Fatbob. There is no mention of the cost for installing the Limited Edition Paint Sets.
