Immaculate Evo Softail Is the Polished Jewelry of Builds
Talented Harley-Davidson Forum member shows off his latest Softail build, which packs incredible detail.
Driving Excellence
The world of custom Harley-Davidson motorcycles is rife with competition. Which is typically a good thing, of course. Fierce competition breeds excellence, and there's plenty of that on display here in the Harley-Davidson Forums. The latest example of this comes to us from member LeDom, who shared some of his amazing builds with us in this thread.

Semi Experienced
Amazingly enough, the Softail build he shares with us is his very first Harley. LeDom cut his teeth on Japanese bikes, but you'd never know it by the way he attacks this highly detailed build.

Atypical Build
LeDom begins the process with the typical teardown, but it's immediately clear that this isn't your typical build. Beginning with the fact that he creates a custom seat using a sheet of raw metal.

Smoothed Out
LeDom also fashions the gas tank from scratch, then fabs up a custom mount. Next, he begins welding up the holes in the frame for a totally smoothed out look.

Never Satisfied
The fenders are basically the only thing LeDom doesn't create from raw materials here, though he does cut them up to tighten up the fit. Next, he moves on to reassembling the completely rebuild engine.

Shine It Up
With all of that work out of the way, it was time to sandblast and powdercoat the frame and swingarm. At this point, reassembly could begin, starting with the engine.

Dare to be Different
As this killer Softail began to take shape, it was immediately evident that a major transformation had taken place. While LeDom waited for everything else to come back from the paint shop, he went ahead and finished plumbing the exhaust.

Racing the Clock
With a debut set for a Montreal show, LeDom was racing against the clock to finish his artful creation. But all that was left at this point were a few minor details like the headlight and master cylinder.

Successful Debut
LeDom met his deadline easily, delivering the Softail to its new owner in time for a big-time debut. Needless to say, you'd never be able to tell this was his very first Harley build.
