Glory Days

Pat Tierney was a big-time motorcycle fan for much of his life, but unfortunately, that hobby of wrenching and riding bikes had to be set to the side when Tierney became ill. However, thanks to some good samaritans, he was able to take a ride on a Harley trike recently and relive the glory days, and KMBC News 9 was on hand to capture that special little moment.

Gift of a Day

The act of kindness was made possible by Outlaw Harley Davidson in Blue Springs, Montana, and was part of Crossroads Hospice's "Gift of a Day" program. Taking a ride on a motorcycle was Tierney's personal wish, and he was next in line to receive this cool benefit.

Full Support

"Very good time, excellent time. Didn't expect to get this much attention. I didn't know this was all going to happen like this," Tierney said. Aside from the media coverage, the nurses at the hospice and other locals cheered him on as he rode off.

Perfect Day

Tierney used to tune up motorcycles in his spare time, but obvious can't physically do much of anything with them at the moment. Thankfully, the Gift of a Day program was able to let him enjoy his hobby once more, and all it starts with one question - "If you had one perfect day, what would it look like?"

Helping Others

Staff members at the Crossroads Hospice team up with local businesses and volunteers to give those at the facility their own personal idea of a perfect day. The program has since given hundreds of folks this benefit over the years, which range from meeting a favorite performer to flying in a helicopter. But for Tierney, the choice was rather simple - he just wanted to experience the joy of a hog once again.
