First Look

We've known for some time now that a new Harley-Davidson model - the Nightster S - was coming. However, until now, we didn't know a whole lot about this latest addition to MoCo's lineup as it prepares to make its debut in the coming weeks. But Motorcycle.com recently uncovered some patent images of the new Nightster S via an Australian filing, giving us our very first look at what's to come.

Styling Differences

Those certification documents contain two images of the Nightster S, which reveal that it looks, well, a lot like the regular old Nightster, save for a different cast wheel design, a pillion seat and footpegs, and a different license plate mount and taillight than its non-S counterpart.

No More Power?

There are many more details contained within this filing, however, starting with the fact that the RH975S -as it's otherwise known - is coming for the 2023 model year. The more surprising detail here is that it seems as if the Nightster S won't be getting any more power than the regular Nightster, as its 975cc engine also churns out 90 horsepower.

Appearance Package

There's also no mention of any suspension or brake upgrades, meaning that it's possible the S represents little more than an appearance package for the regular Nightster. That may or may not be disappointing depending on how you feel about those sorts of things, but we'll have to wait and see how much of a price gap there is between the two before being more critical of this choice.

Curb Weight

In terms of weight, the Nightster S is also a bit heavier than its counterpart at 476 pounds versus 465 pounds, though Motorcycle points out that the Australian model seemingly tips the scales slightly higher than the American version due to parts differences.

Coming Soon

We won't have to wait much longer to learn all about the Nightster S, at least, since Harley has scheduled its 2023 model year reveal event for January 18. It's unclear if the S will be revealed then, but given the scant differences between it in the Nightster, it wouldn't be a surprise if it didn't get its own separate reveal.
