Stand Out

With so many custom Harley builders and motorcycles out there in the world today, it's obviously not an easy task to create something unique that will stand out from this massive crowd. Thus, some shops don't even really try to accomplish that, and instead, churn out builds that look like pretty much everything else out there. For those that don't like cookie-cutter type rides, a German company called Bundnerbike continues to produce interesting and unique machines such as this - a Softail Slim dubbed "Death Heat."

Vintage Vibe

The casual observer - not us hardcore Harley fans - might take a look at this build and immediately think that it's far older than it actually is, in fact, which is a testament to the work that Bunderbike has done to it. That includes the careful selection of parts that went into its creation, such as the vintage-looking wire wheels with a 21-inch unit in the front.

Worlds Collide

The next most obvious thing one might notice is the wrapped exhaust - another old-school trick - but in this case, that material is covering a modern Dr.Jekill & Mr.Hyde setup, with a PM air filter thrown on to help unleash a little extra power as well.

Simulated Patina

Complemented by a nicely done tan leather saddle, this slick Softail Slim is covered in a purposely vintage-looking paint job that somewhat simulates patina with a matte finish. However, this treatment only applies to the tank - the rest of the bike is finished in a simple, timeless black.

Visual Upgrades

A set of ape hangers helps out in the visual department, along with H-D-provided handles. Aside from the side-mounted license plate holder, there are some other modern cues present, however, including LED taillights present in the totally revamped rear section.

Pulling It Off

Add it all up, and it's clear that Bundnerbike managed to masterfully pull off something that a lot of folks in both the motorcycle and automotive customization world try to do all the time and frequently fail - make a newer machine look old. And in this case, well, we'd say they nailed it.
