Forbidden Fruit

Last summer, Harley-Davidson launched a brand new bike called the X440, which was designed in conjunction with Hero MotoCorp specifically for motorcycle-obsessed India. It's incredibly cheap with a starting price tag of less than $3k, and pretty darn handsome, to boot. Sadly, we'll probably never see the X440 sold in the U.S., but that won't stop us from admiring this custom build from the folks at TNT Motorcycles, which it dubbed "Raptor."

Comprehensive Build

The X440, in stock form, is just crying out for someone to turn it into a cafe racer, and that's precisely the theme behind the Raptor - albeit, with a more modern twist. TNT went full bore on this particular build, as pretty much everything one can see or touch has been transformed from stock to custom.

Up Front

Other than the stock fork, there are loads of custom bits up front that include a CNC-machined brace, a carbon fiber fender, a set of clip-on handlebars, and a headlight cover. Ten-spoke wheels wrapped with fat tires help complete the cafe racer look, a retro treatment that's still all the rage today.

Somewhat Concealed

Gorgeous dark green paint is contrasted with some orange features like the "X" on the tank, all of which also add up to a somewhat subtle appearance. However, that only conceals what's going on underneath, and that includes a custom CNC-machined subframe with carbon fiber bodywork and a custom leather seat.

To the Rear

In the rear, one will find a Showa monoshock, plus foot pegs for a passenger, who will also see a stainless steel exhaust system when they look down. However, the rider won't exactly have a ton of power on tap, as the stock powerplant only churns out a mere 27 horsepower - though in this case, it's been modified as well.

Little Power, Low Weight

Those upgrades are limited to the aforementioned exhaust and a new air filter, but the X440 is a pretty lightweight machine to begin with, which should make it fun to ride, regardless. With a stock curb weight of just under 420 pounds, Raptor is even lighter thanks to its carbon bodywork and various deletions, too.

Coming to America?

The X440, in general, is the kind of cheap, fun, customizable ride we'd love to have stateside, but unfortunately, that's not likely to happen. After all, this is quite the opposite of the big, heavy, cruisers and touring machines that we're used to seeing from Harley, though we imagine that there's room for an entry-level offering in that lineup as well.
