Beautiful Machines Turn 1991 Heritage Softail into a 'Monster'
The custom bike shop in Malaysia take an American classic and give it a unique look. The 'Monster' nickname is perfect for this fascinating custom Softail.
Monster
It's somewhat ironic that a shop named Beautiful Machines would create a such a Frankenstein of a motorcycle. But the moniker of 'Monster' is certainly an appropriate one for this custom-built 1991 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail. The finished product of this extraordinary project looks like something out of a dystopian, post-apocalyptic future with some hints of a cyberpunk aesthetic. And we love it!

Coming From Malaysia
Perhaps it makes sense that this crazy build comes our way from Malaysia. The country isn't exactly a hotbed of custom bike culture, but the guys at Beautiful Machines wanted to start the trend. The shop headed by Rajay Singh set out to put Malaysia on the map by turning heads and the world's attention to the amazing work they've been doing. And they've definitely been successful.

Crazy Project
Although Monster started life as an ordinary Harley, it's not very easy to spot the remnants of the Softail at the first glance. There were multiple sources of inspiration for the build. Namely, a Leica M3 camera and a 1950s Biplane. And the silhouette of Monster was inspired by the stance of a Bison!

The Modifications
The heavily modified frame has been stretched out to give the bike a long and low-to-the-ground stance. And that's only the beginning of the long list of modifications to bring this custom build to life. The increased rake meant a new front fork needed to be built. So Beautiful Machines fitted it with a hand-built springer front end.

Unique Aesthetic
The tank was also replaced with a smaller unit, placing even more visual emphasis on the exposed structure and the engine. At the front, you will find this ominous-looking set of headlights tucked in between the panels that cover the front wheel. Truly a unique look for an H-D build.

Minimal Approach
The guys at Beautiful Machines put a ton of thought into this 5-year project and it shows. The understated design in certain areas such as the seat nicely contrasts the intricate elements of Monster. Ultimately, the engine is the visual centerpiece of the build. And the aggressive, low, and forward stance and minimalistic styling all perfectly compliment the bare mechanicals. A stunning build all around.
