Better Experience

Though many of us prefer to ride alone, there are certainly lots of Harley-Davidson owners that tool around with a passenger in the rear, too. For those folks, there are a plethora of special seats and other components that help make the ride more comfy for that passenger, though there are a few things that two-up riders may want to consider buying to make that experience even better.

Foot Pegs

First up, we have foot pegs, which are a somewhat obvious but also commonly overlooked addition for those that ride with a passenger out back. Pegs (or even footboards) can make or break the road trip experience, specifically, and should be placed in the right position for the passenger's height and body type to optimize comfort as well.

Comfy Seat

Perhaps the most important key addition for passengers is the right kind of seat, however. Aside from selecting something with extra cushioning for longer rides, passengers will also benefit from seats with backs on them, which are great for providing extra support and comfort, though basically just swapping out the seat bottom for a nicer one can also make a big difference.

Sissy Bar and Back Rest

As an alternative to changing seats, H-D owners can also add a sissy bar or backrest to their existing setup, which provides the same sort of back support. They also add an element of safety, as sissy bars and back rests make it more difficult to slide off the bike during hard cornering or acceleration, too.

Extra Cusion

Another alternative to swapping out an entire seat is to simply add a seat cushion to the existing one, which is both cheaper and easier to do. There are a wide variety of cushions out there too, perfect for people of all shapes and sizes, and they're also available in many different kinds of materials, to boot.

Bluetooth Headset

Finally, we have bluetooth headsets, which also come in a wide variety of types and styles, with some being built or installed directly into the helmet. Communication is obviously important when one is riding with a passenger, whether that be the need to make a pit stop or if something dangerous is amiss, making it a great choice for anyone riding two-up.
