Welcome Updates

The Harley-Davidson Road Glide has long been a popular option among motorcycle shoppers who crave something stylish and comfy, as well as suitable for longer road trips. However, rather than resting on its laurels, H-D continues to update the Road Glide, with several new improvements in store for the 2024 model year, to boot.

Powertrain

The 2024 Road Glide utilizes a version of the Milwaukee-Eight 117 that's a bit different from the same unit powering the Breakout 117 and Low Rider S/T. In this guise, the 117 cubic-inch powerplant utilizes a 10.3:1 compression ratio to churn out 105 horsepower and 130 pound-feet of torque, which is 22 and 19 percent more of each, respectively, compared to the outgoing 107.

Chassis

Riding on a steel tube frame with a bolt-on rear subframe and two-piece backbone, the 2024 Road Glide is around 16 pounds lighter than before, tipping the scales at 838 pounds. The 49mm Dual Bending Valve fork up front and Showa adjustable shocks help contribute to three inches of rear travel, which is 50 percent more than before, too.

Ergonomics

Comfort is a hallmark of the Road Glide, and some adjustments to its fairing and cooling system for 2024 are designed to enhance that even further. Seat height comes in at 28.3 inches, all of which adds up to a comfortable, upright riding position that makes one want to soak up the miles.

Tech

The 2024 Road Glide is chock full of tech features as well, a list that includes Rain, Road, Sport, and Custom ride modes, Cornering Electronically Linked Brakes (C-ELB), Cornering Drag Torque Slip Control, and a 12.3-inch full-color TFT display running the new Skyline OS infotainment system, to boot.

Pricing

Of course, all of this comes at a price, and the 2024 Road Glide is a cool $4,000 more expensive than the 2023 model with a starting MSRP of $25,999. However, opting for the fancier CVO will set one back at least $44,499, while the performance-focused CVO ST comes in at $42,999.
