2016 Softail Slim Breaks Bad with CMP Turbo Kit
While it may be a pretty cool bike, the Softail Slim doesn't really stand out in the Harley-Davidson lineup. So what is an owner to do? Oh yeah, add some boost!
This ain't your average Slim
Chris Johnson enlisted the help of Mike McNamer and the guys over at Notorious Custom Cycles to bring his 2016 Softail Slim from plain to insane. They did not disappoint, either. They went to work on the bike and did not relent until they came up with what you see here.

Get Notorious...Customs that is
Mike McNamer has been in the custom motorcycle business since 1999, but his passion for motorcycles started long before that, when he was just 6 years old, growing up around his dad's bike shop. In 2016 he founded his own shop, Notorious Custom Cycles and one of his first customer requests was from Chris Johnson. Chris bought a gorgeous, brand new, 2016 Softail Slim in Vivid Black. The bike already looked sharp, as all Slim's do, and with the Screamin' Eagle 110 cubic inch Twin Cam, it had plenty of power to haul any ass, but Chris wanted more...he wanted it to stand out. After Chris sat down with Mike, they came up with a plan of attack and went to work.

Blend no more
The results were astounding. Mike and his crew over at Notorious Customs delivered Chris's expectations ten-fold, in just 90 days. Chris's Slim would definitely not blend in at the local bike nights, now. This bike wasn't just pretty, it was a full custom lead-sled that caught the attention of anyone that it cast its dark shadow upon.

The full custom treatment
The Slim got the full custom treatment: a custom swingarm, apes with bar-end mirror, hidden wiring and custom bent steel clutch and brake lines for a clean look, custom tail-dragger style rear fender, shortened front forks, custom stitched seat, custom 2-into-1 exhaust system, and a lay-frame suspension that drops the whole bike down on the ground- no jiffy stand needed here. This bike was a bonafide badass...but Chris wanted more.

More power
Now, if you were paying attention, in the last slide, I gave you a little preview of what was to come (hint- the middle picture in the collage). That strange-looking device bolted to the right side of the bike is not a motorcycle version of Doc Brown's flux capacitor, but it may as well be. That is a CMP Turbo and it could certainly get Marty McFly back to wherever, or whenever, he wanted to go...in short time.

This is what "Go Fast" looks like
CMP Turbo makes custom kits for Harley-Davidson that are, get this, BOLT ON. Starting at, just under, $8,000, their kits are offered in three levels of "Go Fast": Standard, Hi-Output, and Race. With each kit, you get all the parts and pieces you need to bolt-on one of these units to your bike. When Chris Johnson added the CMP Turbo to his Softail, the custom cruiser went from bad to certifiably insane.

Show stopper
Chris's Slim would have been a showstopper after the first round of customizing from Notorious, but with a turbo on it, it's a magnet for attention. Most motorcycles are already built with a power to weight ratio that makes them perfectly suited for thrill-seekers and speed addicts. When you add a turbo to anything, it instantly becomes a point of entranced conversation and shameless fascination...don't believe me, just look at the Fast & Furious movie franchise.
Chris Johnson wanted his 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim to stand out and he also wanted to enjoy the whine of a turbo, whistling alongside the Twin Cam 110, while he was riding. Partnering with Mike McNamer and the guys over at Notorious Custom Cycles in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin was clearly the right choice to achieve his goals. They took this Slim to the next level of cool and made it truly, bad as hell.
