Step 1 – Choose location

There are a number of locations you can mount the helmet lock on the Sportster, but some locations you can't use. Don't mount it where the helmet touches the pipes, because after a nice, long ride, the pipes will be incredibly hot. You can use the frame to mount it, you can use the foot peg, and you can mount it on the handlebars, which is one of the easiest and the most popular locations.

Step 2 – Install helmet lock

The helmet lock has two parts: the part where it locks the helmet, and the bottom part, which wraps around the handlebars or frame or anywhere else you choose to mount it to. The part that wraps around the handlebars can be separated by removing the two Phillips screws. Align the lock in place, then install the bottom part, and tighten the screws to lock it in place. Of course, a lock mounted with Phillips screws is much less secure than one that has hidden screws, or one way security screws.

Step 3 – Secure your helmet

Now that you have it in place, it's time to put it to use. To secure the helmet, you simply need to unlock it and feed the helmet's metal ring in it, then lock it in place.
