This article applies to the Harley Davidson Softail.

The Harley Davidson Softail is equipped with a security system of which the key fob is in control of. When you press the button on the key fob, it arms or disarms the alarm system, thus allowing you to start the motorcycle or preventing you from doing so. If you lose your key fob while the security system is armed, you will have a hard time starting the motorcycle. Programming a new key fob can cost over a $100 at the dealership; however, doing it on your own will cost you nothing more than the price of the key fob itself. Read on to learn how to program the key fob to your Softail.

Step 4 – Enter code

If you've never changed the code, then you need to enter 7-7-7-7-7. Use the left turn signal to pick the number, meaning press it seven times, then use the right turn signal to enter the number in. So you press the left turn signal seven times, then the right turn signal once, then repeat until you've entered 7-7-7-7-7. Once the code is in, the lights will flash. Turn the ignition off, then try your key fob.
