Default Caliper pistons

I learn something new every day if I'm not careful. I was cleaning the pistons on my front brake caliper when one of the wee buggers popped out of its hole. Fluid everywhere but I was going to replace it anyway.

Am I correct in assuming that I can just push the piston back into its home and carry on???

Inquiring minds want to know.

Nope. You will have to bleed your brakes. First time I've heard of that happening. Usually they are hard to get out unless you know to use a little compressed air in the hydraulic line to pop them out.

I was gonna bleed the brakes anyway. So will I be ok just re inserting the pistons, changing fluid and bleeding the system?
