Default DOT question for my new master cylinder

All

I bought a used 06 Softail Deluxe and evidently the gasket on the front master cylinder was not sealing because the paint is flaking off. I bought a used master cylinder for a softail (9/16" bore) and was going to mine with the new one. I bought a new cap and gasket just to be certain it was good.

My bike uses DOT 4 fluid. The Master cylinder I got was from an 05 Softail and it used DOT 5. The master cylinder is clean and empty but I don't know if I can use this master cylinder with DOT 4 fluid since it was originally DOT 5. I am not sure if the DOT 5 components in the master cylinder are compatible with DOT 4 fluid....

Help please!

I dont know if the seals are compatible but I would get some black fingernail polish and touch it up. They usually leak because they are often over tightened.
