ABS question

ABS question
I am not a fan of ABS being a long time road racer it takes away my control. It has also gotten me into trouble on a couple of occasions. Riding down a steep winding pass in VT. last year I hit a bump in a turn and the ABS released my front brake sending me into the oncoming traffic lane! I can see the advantages in wet or sandy conditions but as an agressive rider it scares me more than helps me.
My question is, if I pull the fuse for the abs will it disable it? And if so, is there any reason that I can't put a switch in line to disable it on command?
Hope someone can help! Thanks, Scott

I was told by another member on here, (kingkingking) to follow the abs wire that runs up the left fork leg from the sensor and when you find that plug behind the fairing to unplug that plug. I have not verified that yet but he says it does disable the system. If that is the case then getting 2 more plugs and wiring in switch that can be removed upon resale would be fairly easy. I feel the same way you do towards this system in the way it works presently.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. I suggest you take a look in the Touring forum, where you may find the answer to your question, and there will be many more readers of your question. Not many members call in here, as you can see from the post counts.
It is also worth checking with your local dealer, as I understand the ABS software has upgrades that are said to improve the way it works.
