Default '05 Ultra brake pulse

I have and 05 Ultra Classic with 14,000 miles on it. I bought it used thru a dealership on consignment. I bought an extended 2 year warranty (maybe one of the dumbest things I have done). It had only 8,700 miles on it a few months ago when I bought it and now it has developed a somewhat severe brake pulse on the front end and a loud squeak that pulses as well. The front pads are well within spec and were replaced the day I picked the bike up. The bike hasn't been ridden hard, wrecked or damaged in any way. Is this covered under extended warranty and how can I figure out what is going on so if I want to avoid the stealership I can get what I need and do the repair myself.

Could be a warped rotor(s), you need a straight edge and some feeler gauges and the allowable tolerances for your bike from the service manual. I can't comment on the coverage on your warranty. You can check for 'runout' with a dial indicator as well.

So I need to remove the wheels and rotors to check, If my mag mount dial indicator could attach to the front forks or disk caliper, I could check for warpage that way?

No need to remove anything, can you get the front wheel off the ground ( safely or course ) in order to spin the wheel. Mounting the magnet is a bit of a pain, you can use a piece of flat stock large enough for the base, mounted off one of the caliper bolts.

I will get a peice of flat stock from work later on and drill some holes for mounting and will try to check tomorrow. I work second shift and I don't have a shed or garage at my disposal so I have to wait until the weather is better. Anything other than a couple thousands would be bad enough to need replacing? If they need replacing, any particular style/recommendations?

I checked a 2000 and 2007 Service manual for specs, .008 max runout on the outside diameter is the tolerance. I imagine it would be the same for your 04. I can't comment on replacement brands.

If you bought the extended warranty--I am sure warped rotors are covered--

can you take it to another dealer? wonder why they wouldn't be straight-up and tell you whether the rotors are covered? Although I agree with 1CdnHD on your issue more than likely being warped rotors, I have bought and replaced brake pads from HD that made my front end shake after being on the bike for about 3 weeks. I went back to the dealer with brake pads in hand and they gave me another set that I have on still today with no front end shake. that was about 7k miles ago.

Maybe not, brake pads and rotors are considered "wearable" parts and may not be covered. Might get a pro-rated discount though.
