Tires for aggressive riding
I'm in need of a new set of tires. I have an FXDX and I love to get aggressive with it, I've slid the back tire a few too many times.
On my RR I had a great set which warmed up fast and gripped well. But this is a Harley and I don't wanna go burning threw rubber every month lol.
Ideally I'd like a set with a hard center but REALLY soft sides. I'm sure there is a tire like that, but where would I look for it? And what tire is it?
Thanks guys

We recommend Avon and Metzeler tires to our customers, both brands are durable but there are differences between the two.
Metzelers have a harder compound which equals less grip but more mileage in the long term.
Conversely, Avons are made with a softer compound for more grip but tend to get less miles than a Metzeler.
In terms of pricing we carry both at the same price.

Check out Avon Storm 2's for the sizes you need. They were redesigned with the hard compound center and soft sides. Buddy of mine who rides hard with a Street Bob loves them but they are the first tires I ever saw on a Harley that started showing cord on the sides before the center wore out. We will be keeping a closer watch on the next one.

Some guys have been giving food reviews on the Pirelli Night Dragons. I'm going to look at those, the Dunlop GT501, K591 and the Avon Venom. The two dunlops are supposed to be the same build, but the GT501 has a more modern tread design. The problem is finding the sizes to fit our bikes. I'm not sure if all of the recommendations will work because the newer Dynas moved to 17" rear wheels. When I search for a 150-160/80-16 rear and a 100-110/90-19 front, these are the only real options that I can find. I think I'm going to stick with the 150 rear, but go to a 110 up front. Let me know how you make out and if you find other options. Thanks.
