Default excessive run-out: new wheel or hub?

I have a new forged front wheel that has an unacceptable amount of radial run-out, at least 2mm.

The company I bought the wheels from is working with me on the issue and is suggesting that it may be a problem with the hub attachment to the forged wheel; specifically, the bolts that hold the hub to the wheel may not be fully seated or obstructed by something (excess locktite, debris, etc.). They are suggesting that before I ship the wheel back to them that I try removing the hub from the wheel, check that there is nothing obstructing the tapped threads on the hub bolts and that they’re seating fully into the wheel, re-torque the hub to the wheel and check the radial run-out again.

I wanted to check and see if anybody here has had a similar issue with a wheel in which the attachment of the hub and not the actual wheel itself was the cause of an excessive run-out problem.

You need to explain this or post photos to show what the problem is. How are the 'hub' and 'forged wheel' joined, to make a complete wheel?! What brand of wheel is this?

With aftermarket wheels with bolt on hubs, any piece of trash could cause run-out...easy enough to check.

Yeah, you'd might as well before you ship it back, but I'd be surprised if that was the problem....( Hope so for your sake tho'!)

When I bent my ring and re laced a new one on I took it to a local dirt bike shop to true it up. Those guys have a lot more experience than most HD shops. FWIW.
