Default Street Glide stopping problem

I recently bought a 2008 Street Glide that has the ABS option. I have noticed that whenever I go to stop the brakes kind of pulse. As in I feel a pulsing jerk. like the brakes are on, off, on, off, on. I think I have narrowed it down to the front brake. It also has a 21" RSD wheel on the from. This problem is really messing with me when I am finally coming to the stop, especially when I am trying to turn. I am not sure if the problem is the ABS? the Rotor? the Pads? the wheel? the wheel being out of balance? the wheel not being an ABS wheel? I am not sure if its an ABS wheel or not. I don't know how to check that. well I appreciate any help. Thanks

Default abs

from what i know..(very little) the abs is supposed to have that stuttering feeling, its the mechanisms pulsating so as not to lock up. good luck but find someone else with a abs system and ride or ask them about their bike.

The studdering or pulsing shouldn't be felt unless the ABS system detects wheel slippage during braking. Unless I am coming to a hard stop and my tire begins to lose traction, I do not feel anything from the ABS system what so ever.

My guess is that you have a bad brake rotor.

The wheel does not have to be an ABS wheel. The bearing in the wheel is what has to be an ABS bearing. With that said the wheel must be the correct size. If that is not the stock wheel size it may cause the ABS to activate too soon. You may be able to get the dealer to connect the digital tecnitian and recalibrate the ABS system.

Having the same problem on a 2019 Street Glide with ABS went from a 19" to a 21" and instantly have a pulsating feeling at the lever......curious as to what you found out and if recalibrating the ABS is what I need to have done. Thanks in advance

I kind of doubt that you are going to get any response from him because I just checked his profile and this is what I found:

Maybe somebody else will be able to answer your question, besides the fact that this thread is about 8 1/2 years old.

Get a new ABS bearing, OEM. Aftermarket ABS bearings “are known“ to have such issues if not bought specifically for a larger size wheel.

Best regards, niv
