Cool Spongy 1st front brake pull

Hello, I just picked up a 2011 Ultra Limited last month and I noticed everytime I pull the front brake lever for the 1st time it goes half way then I release it and grab it again and it feels higher. It definately feels
like there is air in the system. I will have Harley check it out at my 1k service. Anyone else experiencing this issue??

I think mine (01 rk w/dual front disks) has always felt SLIGHTLY more firm if pumped, only slightly though. I'm sure you did this already but you should definitely check around the fittings of brake lines, there should be no sign of dampness (from brake fluid) Pay particular attn to the junction point under the triple-tree above the front fender, thats where mine came loose and sprayed fluid all over my front right disk!!! It lost pressure REALLY FAST. I ate a little dirt in the ditch but that's ok... I didn't eat the back end of the car in front of me.

Sounds like air in the lines to me too.

Have the dealer check the rotor(s) runout on the front wheel.

Don't wait. have it checked. If it's only air it's an easy fix. Hell your local Indi can do it cheap.

Thumbs down

OP, you just described my 2011 FLHX exactly. I have the ABS, do you? Fist time you pull on the lever it's half way, and spongy isn't the word for it. Give it a quick pump, and it's nice and firm, right at the beginning of the travel. Wondered about it being air, or ABS. I know in the automotive world, bleeding ABS systems (Correctly) is a real pain, requiring special equipment to cycle the ABS while bleeding.

Anybody lived through this and fixed it???
